Boiler Bridge Walk
The Boiler Bridge walk is a great way to kick start the school spirit in preparation for game day. Students, faculty, alumni, community and Purdue faithful gather at John T. Meyer's Pedestrian Bridge at 5:30 on Friday evenings before a home football game to interact with all the players and coaches.Players sign autographs, talk to fans, and the people cheer all the way until they reach downtown Lafayette from West Lafayette. This tradition goes a bit under the radar but is extremely fun.

The Old Oaken Bucket
The Old Oaken Bucket is one of Purdue's longest standing sports traditions and is one of the best rivalries in all of college sports. In 1925 Purdue and Indiana University met in Chicago to discuss having a tangible relic for the winner of the rivalry game each year. They thought that it should be a relic of old Indiana and decided that the trophy would be an Old Oaken Bucket. After searching different farms throughout Indiana they finally found an old, mossy oaken bucket on a farm in between Kent and Hanover. The first ever Old Oaken bucket game resulting in a tie. A brass I-P was placed on the bucket to symbolize a tie and the bucket would spend six months at each school. The winner of each game gets there schools letter attached to the bucket and is home to the bucket until the next game.
